Cardblocks Platonic Solids

$29.99

Plato was not only a great philosopher but also a mathematician. “Let no one ignorant of Mathematics enter here” is said to have been above the doorway of his Academy. He believed that the matter is made of perfect units – the geometric figures. The simplest one is a triangle – a component of other polyhedrons.

An equilateral triangle can be used to create perfect solids: a tetrahedron, an octahedron, an icosahedron, and two triangles forming a square can also form a hexahedron. The combination of all simple components is a dodecahedron – made up of regular pentagons. All the platonic solids form a set of polyhedrons.
